I’ve spent most of the past week on the road at a conference. Although I travel for court appearances and client meetings, spending this much time on the road for a conference was a different experience. Preparing to leave, I was very nervous about being away from either office for an extended period of time. But as I learned, if you have the right business systems, you can do it.

One of the things I have in common with my business clients is that we face the same challenges. Just as they need to have systems in place, so do I. A few of the sessions at my conference focused on just that – having the right systems in place. So today is another travel day. It’s back to the Minnesota office for me. But then next week it will be back on the road to New York.

Get the Right Systems in Place

No matter what type of business you run, systems are what keep things moving along. They don’t have to be fancy. Some fantastic systems don’t even cost money. But all businesses run on some type of system, even the informal ones.

These days, with communications almost everywhere, if you’re going to be away from the office, you should have some type of system to be in communication with clients and the office. This was one of the things that made me the most nervous when I left on this trip. But my systems were in place. They all worked. And the people who needed to find me found me. The people who can wait until this week? They’ll be hearing from me when I get back on the ground in Minnesota.

Sometimes, my favorite conversations with business owners have nothing to do with the law. If you have a great business system that works for you that you’re dying to share, call my office and we can talk about it – (877) AMAYERS.
