A beautiful day In NYC

Manhattan from the Sky

One of the challenges of having two offices separated by 1,000+ miles is the travel between the two. For the past few years, I’ve spent plenty of time in the air traveling. The journey can be great, or it can be very stressful.

A Smooth Travel Day

One of the best ways to make the travel day easier is a smooth experience all around. After a lot of bumps and delays on Sun Country Airlines during my recent trips, I switched to American Airlines for this trip and was rewarded with a seamless experience from start to end.

One of the biggest benefits was American’s phone app, which saved plenty of time throughout the various checkpoints at the airport and with TSA Pre-Check, I was through security and to the gate with plenty of time to spare. Add in Dunkin Donuts’ app allowing me to order my iced coffee ahead of time and waiting for me, and it was a very pleasant start to my trip.

What Can Businesses Learn?

The obvious lesson that any business can learn is to keep the customer in mind when designing systems. Whether it was the airport, the airline or Dunkin Donuts, each had systems in place to make a smooth trip for a customer. The focus on the customer made the difference this morning. Before I knew it, I was off the plane and headed to my office.

What’s Next

After a pleasurable day of travel, I’ve got a busy week in New York. The weather is beautiful and hopefully holds all week…
