We are enjoying a quick break from the law as we get ready to celebrate Independence Day. The weather is warm, it’s a great time for vacations and hopefully, you are finding some time to relax.

A Quote From John Locke

Many years ago (more than I care to count), I really enjoyed some political philosophy classes. The reading could be dense at times, but it can also be very inspiring.

For this Independence Day, I was reminded of a quote from John Locke’s Second Treatise of Civil Government,

The end of law is not to abolish or restrain, but to preserve and enlarge freedom.

For in all the states of created beings capable of law, where there is no law, there is no freedom.
