When I was growing up, school was closed and there was a large parade in New York. There were plenty of other parades throughout the year, but Columbus Day stood out in my mind for some reason. These days, it is celebrated as a regional holiday and here in Minnesota, the kids go to school and it doesn’t seem to be really celebrated.
So if you’re off for the day and celebrating, enjoy the day!
